WOMEN ENGINEERS

UNION MEMBERSHIP [FROM Otfß OWN COHRKSrONDKNT] LONDON, March 17 Engineering unions, which have promised maximum co-operation in the arms drive, are still riot convinced by Mr. Churchill's assertion that 1,000,000 •women will be needed in the industry. . Nevertheless women may before long be admitted to the Amalgamated Engineering Union, which previously has always jealously confined its membership to men. This rule, adopted nearly a century ago, when the parent body of the present union was founded, is to be examined by the Rules Revision Committee in the summer. Branches in all parts of the country support an alteration to allow women to join. If' a change is decided upon there will be discussions with the two General Workers' Unions which are fit present organising women engineers
