Savage. The officers and men were entertained bv residents and conducted to places of historic interest, particularly 1 those related to French settlement. 'I he I vessel will remain at Akaroa over the week-end. TIMARU CELEBRATIONS PROGRAMME FOR WEEK [I)Y THr.KGII.U'H —Pit ESS ASSOCIATION"] TIMARU, Sunday The Timaru Centennial celebrations, which will extend over a week, were commenced to-day with a thanksgiving service, at which reference was made to the death of the Prime Minister by tiie principal speaker, the Rev. F. Wilkinson. The week's programme will include the opening of a Centennial I memorial in the form of a women s j community centre, the entertainment I of pioneers, massed displays by school- | children, and tlie re-enactment of the landing of pioneers at Caroline Bay. —
