LINE OF 375 MERINO EWES STATION OWNER'S DIFFICULTY [BY telegraph—owx correspondent] BLENHEIM, Saturday A line of 375 Merino ewes were given away at a stock sale at Blenheim, the recipient having to pay only a small sum as yardage fees, while the vendor had to meet freight charges to the sale. When the line was offered no bids were made to the auctioneer, and by degrees lie worked from one shilling a head to threepence. There was still no replv when he asked for a penny each. "Will anybody take them if 1 give them to you?" he asked as a last resort. "Yes, 1 i.vilU" SJl id an onlooker, apparently wishing to join in what he thought was a joke. "Well, take them," said auctioneer. The ewes concerned were old ones and had been brought in from & highcountry station.
