OBITUARY
MR. ERNEST JOHN KNIGHT Tho death occurred recently at the residence of his daughter at Papatoetoe of Mr. Ernest John Knight, of Levin. Born at Lower Hutt in 1874 Mr. Knight was tho fourth son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Knight, and a grandson of one of Wellington's pioneer families, lie took up farming at an early age at Lower Hutt,. and later was farming in Taranaki, Wairarapa and Manawatu, retiring in 1924 to live in Levin. He was a prominent member of the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Knight is survived by his widow, three sons and three daughters. MR. MATTHEW HICKEY [from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE. Saturday The death has occurred of Mr. Matthew Hickey, aged 74. Mr. Hickev, who resided in Seddon Street, Piikekolie was a member of the stall or the Pukekohe Borough Council for many years and, prior to _ retiring, served for a period as traffic inspector. In his younger days he was an enthusiastic yachtsman.^ MR, E. J. SWANN [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] HAMILTON, Sunday The death has occurred in Auckland of Mr. Ernest John Swann, oi Matangi, aged 72. Mr. Swann was born in England, and camo to New Zealand 5Q years ago. Ho lived in Auckland, llotorua and Tanranga. Thirteen years ago he moved to ■ Matangi, where ho lived until his retirement a year ago. He was a member of the Auckland, Waikato and Cambridge Trotting Clubs and was formerly an owner of trotting horses. He is survived bv Mrs. Swann and two daughters. MRS. A. W. ST. JOHN [by telegraph—press association] V , ; NELSON, Saturday The death has occurred of Mrs. Ivy Doris St. John, wife of Mr. A. W. St. John Mrs. St. John this month won the New Zealand gold and silver mallet croquet competition.
