A bring-and-buy sale was held at the Higher Thought Centre on Wednesday, the stalls boinß in charge of Airs. Al. Stuart and Mrs. Drake. The vice-presi-dent, Miss I. Rutherford, presided. Items were given by Mrs. Pearce, Mrs. Brinsmead, Mrs. H. B. Skinner and Mrs. L. Collier.

The first of the bridge afternoons Jor the 1040 season was held by the New Women's Club on Wednesday. The president, Mrs. W. B. Darlow, assisted by the convener, Mrn. W. N. Hurley, and the hostesses, Mrs. Mac Queen and Mrs. Ividdey, welcomed the guests. The prize-winners wore Mrs. G. Dyson and Mrs. Baker.

Miss Marv O'Reilly, a member of the staff of the Otumoetai School, Tauranga, has accepted a teaching appointment in the Woodville district. Prior to leavinc; Tauranga, Miss O'Reilly was presented with a gift by the Rev. Father Eccleston on behalf of the many friends she had made in the district.
