PANAMA CANAL DEFENCE (Received March 10, 7.~M p.m.) WASHINGTON", March 9 The Foreign Sub-Committee ol the House of Representatives is prepared to study plans for the purchase of strategic islands to defend the Panama Canal. Senator -J. F. Byrnes (Democrat — South Carolina) announces that he is calling naval men to give evidence to the Navy Sub-Committee on the proposal to build a naval air .station at Guam, which was eliminated from the Navv Bill on February IG.
