SPEED OF SAXON TOE, PASTURE UNSEATS RIDER SOUND EFFORT BY BRUNHILD [BT TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] NEW PLYMOUTH, Wednesday Rain during the night made the New Plymouth course a little holding for the final trials this morning. The outside of the course proper appeared to be affected more than the plough, which was in good order. The best efforts were those of Ned Cuttle, Brunhild, Footloose and Saxon Tor. On the course proper, where the flairs wero out nearly 30ft., Zest and Empire Action ran half a milo in 533. Footlooso moved pleasingly over fivo furlongs in 1.5. He is not engaged to-morrow, but may contest the Urenui Handicap on Saturday. I 1 ilberl and Red Sun covered half a mile in 5-1 2;55. Rod Sun appears to have benefited by recent racing. Ohanga ran a milo in 1.50, Liberal's Mint joining in at the half-milo, to run right away, in 535. Saxon Tor displayed his usual speod to dash over threo furlongs in 375, a smart effort. Filotto took 3S l-5s for the samo distance.

Brunhild gave Clessamor three lengths start to finish on terms at the end of six furlongs, the last fivo in 1.7. It was a sound effort on the part of Brunhild. Phaleron did better than Cherry Bay at tho conclusion of half a mile in 535, finishing particularly well.

.Miss Leighon was not extended to run three furlongs in 10 2-T>s. Tahurangi was apportioned an easy gallop over five furlongs, the last two showing - J7 - J-ss. Pasture shied and unseated his rider before completing a four-furlong task. He appeared sore afterward.

Mat a roa has not made tho trip, and will consequently bo an absentee from tho Cup field.
