BEGINNING THE DAY

(Supplied by the Council of Christian Congregations.) Text.—Be ambitious to be quiet. I. Thessalonians, 4. Verse.— From the world ot sin and noise And hurry I withdraw, For the small and inward voice I wait with humble awe: Silent am I now and still Dare not in Thy presence move; To my waiting soul reveal The secret of Thy love. Prayer.—Our Father in Heaven, impart us the quiet spirit. Our lives, are busy, and we confess that we are losing the art of being quiet and still. We realise that for the deepest activities of life we must be alone. We know that Jesus, the busiest of men. knew the desert places and was often alone. Grant to us the treasure of the quiet heart. Amen.
