THE LITERARY COMPETITION

Sir,-—As one of the "160 nerve-worn writers" who competed in the major literary competitions, 1 am in agreement with Air. Arthur Saiusbury. Not being n tradesman in letters (althougn 1 took all the caro I am capable of), L did hoj>e some short criticism would be forthcoming, if only to deter mo from depleting the already short supply of paper. Another complaint is that I sent my ewe-lamb by registered post, enclosing a similar fee for its return. It came homo to roost safely, unregistered. But why should my registration fee go to swell an apparently already swollen surplus? J.W.W.
