[THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH . . • • i ■' • ■ ■ i. / The threatened grave deficit in the Snission funds of the New, Zealand Presbyterian Church was considered at the meeting of'the missions committee yesterday. Thedirector of missions, the Rev. D. N. MacDiarmid, reported that an issue of ,55,000 copies of an article on orderly giving was being readily availed of, and the example of the •Auckland Presbytery in appointing a eelf-denjal month for special giving was being followed by a number of other Presbyteries. A letter was received from the Young (Women's Bible Class Union undertaking to raise an additional £SOO at least to meet the needs of the Church. t Reports from . delegates visiting South Island churches'to secure further support' toward meeting the de-. ficit showed that they were meeting ;with much encouragement, and that many congregations had undertaken to make the budget allocation their minimum contribution. The Rev. R. Ferguson Fish, .of Devionport, 'was'appointed as actirtg-con-(rener until the meeting of assembly toward the end of the year. Mr. Fish Eucceeds the / Rev. D. M. Cattanach, formerly of Takapuna, who has accepted a call to the charge of St. Andrews, Hastings.
