CENTENNIAL CUP
. VICTORY FOE YOGI THREE-YEAR-OLDS DO WELL ORELIO BEATS SPRINTERS FOXSEN SCORES NARROWLY • Threo each-way favourites, Orelio, r,y o gi and Foxsen, and two second fancies, Jouu Peel and White Rajah, were successful on tho second day of "tho To Aroha Jockey Club's Jubilee Meeting yesterday, when form worked out well, with the exception of the Manawaru Hurdles, in which the placed horses were all at good odds. Threo of tho.. winners, Full of Scotch, My si to and Hunto, returned double figures, tho first-named paying over a quarter 0 f a century when lie won the Manawaru Hurdles, which was his first success since he captured the Trenthani Hurdles in July, 1938. An interesting feature ot tho racing was tlio success of three-year-olds, who accounted for five firsts, a second and a third, tho winners being Orelio, Yogi, Joan Peel, Hunto and Faxsen. Tho porformanco of Yogi in winning the chief event, the Centennial Cup, stamped him as an improver likely to go on to further success, the manner in which ho fought off strong chnllengos from ' Royal Appellant and Tho Cardinal being very encouraging. Orelio made completo amends for his ill-luck on the first day when he won tho Farewell Handicap very decisively from and Foxmond. The weulher was fine and the track in gplendid order, having been little affected by the downpour on Saturday night. Tho totalisiitor handled £-10,731,- compared with £l 1,202 on tho second day last year, a decrease Of £3-171. Tho investments for tho meeting' were £S7,ISS 10s, against £ 10-l,(>;$•"» last year, a decrease of c 17.71(5 IDs.
