REGATTA PRIZES

ANNIVERSARY EVENTS ANNUAL PRESENTATION - REPRESENTATIVE GATHERING The prizes won at the Auckland Centennial Anniversary Regatta wero presented to the winners in the Royal Akarana Yacht Club's pavilion last night. Mr. G. M. Dennes, chairman of the committee, presided. There was a largo attendance of prize-winners and visitors, including the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, Captain W. E. Parry, C.8., H.M.S, Achilles, LieiitenantCoininander J. C. Elworthy, H.M.S. Philomel, Mr. W. B. Darlow, chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, Mr. D. Holderncss, Mr. R. H. MacKay, vice-chairman of the Auckland Yacht and Motoivhoat Association, and the commodores of all the local yacht and motor-boat clubs. In extending a welcome to the visitors, the chairman said the committee appreciated the presence of such a distinguished Kuest as Captain Parry, C.8.. "and called for three cheers, which were heartily responded to. Referring to the regatta, Mr Dennes said record entries were received and, although it was found advisable to postpone the races lor the smaller classes until a later date on account of the heavy weather conditions, tho fixture was a great success. .In the events for V and Z boats, the entries were so largo that the ovents had to be divided into two classes. Mr. Dennes thanked the Harbour Board ami the naval authorities for their assistance in carrying out the regatta. The prizes were presented by Captain Parry, C.B.', who congratulated the winners on their success.. The most important prizes were won by the following:—Heather Cup (class Kirßham Memorial Cup. (class H), Omalere; Brai]ml Cup (class Y), Innocence; Savory Cup (class S), Clio; Lipton and Ross' Cups (X class), Caress; Tyler Cup (midgets), Ranker; Dennes Cup (Silver Fern class), Valerie. „ . • The toasts or the Auckland City Council, the Harbour Board, and the chairman of the regatta committee, Mr. G.
