PETROL LICENCES

MANY ENDORSEMENTS 2000 NEW APPLICATIONS THE RATIONING POLICY About two-thirds of the commercial petrol licences issued by the oil fuel control office in Auckland before the reimposition of rationing have now been endorsed with the reduced quantities allowed. That means in effect that onethird of the licence holders have yet to present their licences, so that large attendances at the office are likely to continue for some days.

Apart from applications for endorsement/ of licences, the office has received over 2000 applications for new special or commercial licences. A large number of representations against the reduction imposed on existing commercial licences have also been received. Some have been considered by the advisory committee set up by the Oil Fuel Controller. A few decisions based on the committee's recommendations have been communicated to the licence holders concerned, and others are likely to be' issued in increasing number over the next few days.

Some anomalies have been discovered, but there has been no change in the department's rationing policy. Except for milk distributors and bakers, whose reduction for the current month is- 20 per cent, the reduction for commercial users of petrol remains at 33 1-3 per cent.
