The Auckland Trotting Club's meeting to-day at Alexandra Park should prpve popular, while broadsiding and midgetcar racing is likely to attract large crowds to the Western Springs Stadium to-night. The Auckland Cricket Association's Country Week tourney will continue to-day at the Domain. The final stages of the Auckland Bowling Centre's annual Christmas tournament will be played to-day. The last two days of the Auckland Racing Club's Summer Meeting will be held on Monday and Tuesday, and excellent racing should bo witnessed. Country sports will be held on Monday at To Aroha and Port Waikato, while a further meeting will take place at Morrinsville on Tuesday. Given a continuation of the fine weather, the beaches should attract many visitors over the week-end, while cabarets and theatres should prove popular in the evenings.

FINE CONDITIONS LIKELY FAVOURABLE FORECAST To thousands of holiday-makers, a welcome note is sounded in forecasts for the weather over the New Year vacation. Prospects appear to be as bright as those for the Christmas weekend. The special forecast for Auckland from the Government meteorologist in Wellington suggests fair to fine and warm weather, slight seas and light to moderate winds, with southerly conditions predominating. For the whole of the Dominion, with the exception of the far south, an anti-cyclone which extends on to New Zealand from the west augurs generally good weather. With practically negligible exceptions, the past fortnight has provided weather in complete accord with the holiday spirit. The southerly wind which has been ruling has kept temperatures to a comfortable level.
