Plans for 1940

UNITED ARTISTS' SCHEDULE THE production schedule adopted by United Artists for its 1940 programme has been announced. The sum of £6,000,000 has been set aside for the making of the 28 pictures in the list. The films are as follows: Samuel Goldwyn will produce "Raffles," with David Niven and Olivia de Haviland; David 0. Sclznick, "Rebecca," from the novel by Daphne du Maurier, with Laurence Olivier, and "Intermezzo," with Leslie Howard, lngrid Bergman and Edna Best; Aloxnnder Korda, of London Films, "The Thief of Bagdad," with Sabu, Conrad Veidt and June Duprez; Walter Wanger, "The House Across the Bay," with Joan Bennett; "Eternally Yours," with Lcretta Young, David Niven and Billie Burke; "Send Another Coffin," directed by Tay Garnett from the novel by P. G. Presnqjl; Edward Small, "My Ron, My Son," from the novel by Howard Spring; "Two Years Before lh» Must," from thp novel by Richard Henry Dana; "Kit Carson, Avenger," "South of Pago Pago," "The House of Monte Cristo" and "Valentino." Hal Roach, "Tho Housekeeper's Daughter," with Joan Bennett; "Of Mice and Men," with Burgess Meredith, Charles Bickford and Lon Chaney, jun., from the novel by John Steinbeck; "Turnabout," from tho novel by Thorne Smith; "Captain Caution," from the novel by Kenneth Roberts, "1,000,000, 8.C.," and four Laurel and Hardy pictures, one of which has been titled "The Chump at Oxford';; Sol Lesser-Ernest Lubitsch Productions, "Our Town," the Pulitzer Prize play of 1938; Douglas Fairbanks Productions, "The Californian;" and Aldwych Productions, " An Englishman's Home," with Edmund Gwenn, Mary Maguire, from the stage play by Guy du Maurier. The list will be released through Amalgamated Theatres, Limited.
