I'Vu, I'A SYDNEY COUNCIL LOAN FLOTATION AT PAR SYDNEY, Oct. 27 The Sydney County Council to-dny announced the flotation of a loan of £600.000 for public subscription for 10 years at. par, with interest at 4J per rynt. This is the first time the council has floated a loan on the Australian market. GUARANTEE CORPORATION YEAR'S BUSINESS REVIEWED [BY TEIiKGRArff OWN CORKKSPONDENT] WELLINGTON, Friday The annual meeting of the New Zealand Guarantee Corporation, Limited, i wr ; held yesterday. The chairman, Mr. W. Thorpe, stated that bills receivable showed an increase of £.'55,462, reflecting the substantial increase in business during the year. During the depression period it had been demonstrated conclusively that the very best typo of security was in the pliape of bills receivable maturing almost every day. At the present time over 98 per cent of the company's assets were in this form. Bank overdraft was £28,500 higher than last year, due to the increase in business. lii his opinion an overdraft at £IOO,OOO was just about the right amount, and he considered it absolutely safe to use approximately the same amount of borrowed money as paid-up capital. Mr. Thorpe said he hesitated to voice any opinion as to what the future held for the company, but he assured shareholders that tlio board was watching developments very carefully.
