DEBATING CONTEST
The public speaking circle of the Lyceum Club entertained the members of the Overseas Leaguo at a debating contest on Wednesday night, the subject being "That This Mechanical Ago is Detrimental to Culture." The affirmative was taken by the Lyceum Club members, the speakers being Mi-ss Gilkington, Mrs. Burrell and Mrs. Garlick. The negative side, Overseas League, was taken by Mrs. Burton, Mrs. Boswell and Miss Gr en fell Spencer. Miss Ellen Melville acted as chairman, and Mr. J. Hogben was the judge. Speakers for the negative (Overseas League) were tlie winning team.
