BOATS CHANGE HANDS The Z class boat Archann, lately owned by Mr. K. W. Churchill, of Waiuku, has been purchased by Mr. E. H. Wood, of Shoal May. The 26 ft. yacht Calypso owned by Mr. A. Hone, has been converted into a keel boat. The centreboard lias been removed and a load keel fitted. Calypso formerly competed as a mullet boat. The Maniikau Yacht and .Motor Boat Club will ojien its season on Saturday, November 1. The open championships in the 18ft., l(ift., Mft. and 12ft. Gin. classes, will be held by the club on Saturday, February .'i. The well-known .Jellicoe 14ft. class boat Clyde, formerly owned by the late Mr. C. Pickering, has been purchased bv Mr. C«. Oxspring of Orakci. Clyde is now being overhauled and will take part in the Sanders Cup trial races. The Royal Akarana Yacht Club brought its winter series of races for sailing dinghies to a close on Monday. Six events, including two for Frostbites were hold and proved very interesting. Large entries were received and although the wind was rather light in the forenoon, some close finishes were recorded. Throughout the winter months the club has held races for small craft once a fortnight and theso events have proved so popular that it is the intention of the club to place races on its programme for the 19M0-40 season. The most successful boat in the winter series was Leveling, which accounted for the champion cup with a total of 1812 points. Kohti was runnerlip with IGo.'i points. Midget, 1297 points, secured third prize, and Hanger, 1 M(5 points, fourth.
