WAR MEASURES
USE OF THE PORT HARBOUR REGULATIONS ISSUE OF PERMITS During the past few weeks the Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association has made excellent progress on behalf of boatowners in connection with petrol supplies and the use of tho port bv vaehtsinon. Since the first war regulations were announced permits are now being issued to enable pleasure craft to leave ami return to the harbour by either the Rangitoto or the Motulcoreho Channels. These permits, which must be sent through the association or clubs affiliated to it. are for the yachting season, and will not require to be renewed. Boat-owners not belonging to a club must apply in person to the Naval Control Service, Naval Base, Devonport. The association has been made responsible for seeing that all craft comply with the port regulations before handing permits to boat-owners. Yadits must carry their class letter and registered number on their mainsail, and in addition must also have their permit number painted on a board and displayed when reporting to the patrol vessel. All power craft must have their permit number painted on their bows. The size of the number must be 18in. in height by 2in. wide. It is not necessary to report when leaving the liar-, hour, but all craft must report when returning. Details ol the, regulations are set out on the permits. Close on 400 applications for permits havo been received and about half that number have been issued. Association delegates, assisted by various club officials and members, have spent two
eveniiifis receiving applications, antl arrangements have boon made to receive further applications in the Mission to Seamen's Hall this evening. Owners who have nlreadv filled in the prescribed form and wish to obtain their permit must make personal application to-night.
