AUSTRALIAN PLAYERS EXHIBITIONS IN AUCKLAND Tenuis enthusiasts in Auckland will welcome the opportunity of seeing the Australian players who won the Davis Cup in action at the Stanley Street courts next Monday afternoon The members of the team are J. E. Bromwlch, A. K. Quist, J. 11. Crawford and 11. Hopman. Followers of the sport will be anxious in the case of Bromwich and Quist to note'the reported new developments, to their games. The Australians will brine with them the Davis Cup. which has not been seen in Auckland since !!•:.'<), when the Americans, Tildeti and Johnston, decisively defeated the Australian holders, Patterson, Brookes (now Sir Norman) and O'llara Wood. Sir Norman Brookes, president of the Australian Lawn Tennis Association, will accompany the present team.

This is one ot the conditions attaching to the trophy being dinplayed in a public place.

MATCHES [FROM OUR OWN CORItrcsrONDKNT] OTOROHANGA, Thursday The Northern King Country Lawn Tennis Association has decided to start jnter-club matches on November 1 I in three grades, A. B arid C. B teams are to consist of six men and six ladies and G teams of not less than four men and four Indies. Teams in the various grades arc:—A grade: Piopio, Olorohaiiga, Te Kniti, Te Awaniutu and M alignpi'elii. B grade: Te Kniti. OtorohaiKra, To Awaniutu, Railway and SI. Andrew's. C (rrade: 'i'e Kawa, Rangintea and Maihiihi. It Is expected to play a representative mulch a urn i list Tarnnnki early in November Matches fixed for Saturdays may be nlaved Ihe following day by mutual agreement. The inter-club matches are lo be played in only one round, and if possible, lo finish by Christmas. Maihiihi Club.—Opening day was held under rather unfavourable weather conditions. There were many visitors from other districts. including the president of the Kliter Country Tennis Association Mr. A. C. Thoiiuison. of Otorohanga. Mr. J. C. Petersen, in the absence of the patron, Mr. 11. E. Walters, welcomed tlio visitors and declared the courts open.
