MOTORIST SENTENCED
TWO .YEARS' PROBATION SEQUEL TO AN ACCIDENT ' Found guilty last week on a. ehargo of failing to ascertain if he liad injiired anyone after an accident near Towai in which his car was involved, Georga Alfred Harris (Mr. Turner) appeared for sentence before Mr. Justice Callan in the Supreme Court yesterday. Mr, G. S. 11. Meredith represented the Crown. Mr. Turner said the jury had acquitted accused on a charge of failing to stop after an accident and with respect to the charge on which he had - been found guilty had auded a recommendation to mercy. While appreciating that the probation officer had not recommended probation, counsel urged that this course should be taken-in view of the jury's recommendation. His Honor said that in spite of the probation officer's report be felt _ n® should give the fullest possible weight to the recommendation of the jury. Accused would be admitted so probation for two years. He would also nici prohibited from holding a driving licence for two years, the term to be concurrent with, a similar prohibition of ono year imposed under a charge in the Lower Court.
