FAT STOCK SALES

PRICES AT WESTFIELD INCREASE IN YARDINGS VALUES GENERALLY EASIER There were large entries generally at the Wcstfield fat stock sales yesterday, the only exception being in the ease • of calves, where the yarding was barely , an average one. Prices generally were easier. Values for a larger yarding of beef ' mostly showed an easing tendency, al- ! though prime light cattle maintained late rates. The top price for'steers was j £l7, compared with last week's best offer of £lB 10s. To £ll was bid for ; cows and heifers, as against £l2 17s 6d at the previous sale. The highest- price last week was 345. An average yarding of calves came . forward, but good quality runners and vcalers were in short supply, competition for these sorts consequently being keen. Values were very firm on lato rates. A much heavier yarding of pigs met with. a steady sale, but values were easier. Baconers sold to £4 7s, against £4 10s, and averaged about 6Jd per lb., the same as last week. Top price for porkers was £3, being os lower, with average rates at from 6Jd to 7d, a drop of Ad.
