DRAINAGE DIFFICULTY
PIAKO RIVER LAND [by telegbaph—own corhesponbent] THAMES, "Wednesday For some years the area bounded by the Kerepeehi - Kopuarahi Road, Orchard East Road and the Piako River has been found extremely difficult to 'drain satisfactorily owing to the nature of the country and tho position of tho existing drains. Now the fact that the Paeroa-Pokeno railway will run through a portion of tho area adds further difficulties. The matter has been receiving the attention of the Haliraki United Drainage Board for some time past and was again brought under discussion at yesterday*'s meeting of the board by a reply from the engineer of the Public Works Department and later by a deputation' of settlers who asked to have one of the main drains repaired.
