CYCLED ACROSS AMERICA ENGLISHMAN'S PERFORMANCE \ . Having obtained a position in a dairy factory at Ruawai, North Auckland, through meeting friends,,in Eng- , land who came from Ruawai, Mr. J. E. Ashmore arrived at Auckland by the Monowai yesterday, after cycling across the American Continent;. leaving England' on May T.2, Mr. Ashmore cycled from New York to . Chicago, via Niagara and up,, through the central American States ..to Montana. After crossing the Canadian i border he spent two -weeks at the , Canadian winter resorts and cycled through British Columbia. X'The last 100 miles in Canada was ' rough going and I had to travel by motor-truck," said Mr.'Ashmore. "Tho .! roads aro rough in West Canada. Mv | coast-to-coast trip took 11 weeks and I caught the Monowai at Victoria."
