STOWAWAY ON LINER

TRANSHIPPED AT PANAMA ACCUSED SENT TO GAOL Charged with stowing away on the Xew Zealand Shipping Company's liner Rotorua at Auckland on June 16. George Donaldson, a cook, aged .'SO, appeared before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday. Sub-Inspector W. Pender, who prosecuted, said that accused was transferred to another vessel when the llotorua reached Panama and brought back to Xew Zealand. Accused said he had applied to the offices of shipping companies in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland for work, but was unsuccessful. He had worked hard on the Kotorua to Panama and on the vessel on which he returned to the Dominion. The magistrate sentenced accused to one month's imprisonment.
