QUEEN CARNIVAL
CENTENNIAL CONTEST PROGRESS AT WHANGAREI [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Friday With 20,014 votes, the Business Queen, .Miss Una Richards, leads in tlie Whangarei Centennial Queen Carnival. The Country Queen is second with 23.735 votes, followed by the Combined Services and Professions Queen and the .Maori Queen. In the princess contest to decide the .Maori Queen, Takahiwai leads with votes for its candidate, closely followed by Whangaruru, Mangakahia and Pipiwai. In the princess contest for the County Queen, Waipu has secured the most votes for its candidate with the Mangakahia-Maunu princess next in order, and Manaia third. The Maori Queen will be the Maori princess gaining the most votes and the County Queen will be the County princess securing the largest number of votes.
