NEW DENTAL CLINIC
HUNTLY OPENING CEREMONY [from our owx correspondent] lIUXTLY, Monday Erected at an approximate cost of £450, the new school dental clinic, situated in the grounds of the Huntly District High School, was officially opened by the Mayor, Mr. W. C. F.. -George. 31 r . c. Shonvin, president school dental clinic committee, presided. Mr. J L. Saunders (Wellington), Director of the Division of Dental Hygiene, was present. Mr. Sherwin said that through tha efforts of the committee £169 had been raised locally toward the cost- of the new building and the Government had granted a £2 for £1 subsidy. Including the local school, there were chil- , dren from 11 schools receiving treatment; 5.'}2 children were under treatment and 302 were on the waiting list. The area extended as far north as Te Knuwhata and Pukemiro to the west. Dr. K. M. S. Taylor; senior dental > officer for South Auckland, said that the clinic was not only for the treatment of teeth, 'but also to promoto health." Mr. Saunders said that Huntly was one of the earliest centres to have a dental clinic. There were 300 cljnics throughout the Dominion and 95,000 children were receiving treatment.
