AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIP ANOTHER WIN FOR CARRICK The Auckland provincial amateur billiards championship for the : Billiards, Limited, Shield was continued lastlevening at Messrs. Billiards, Limited's, showrooms. A large gathering: witnessed tho first semi-final between R. Whit ford, the former Canterbury player, and R. Carrick, tho latter winning after a good contest. Carrick scored freely at the commencement and passed 100 with an advantage of -10 points. Whitford. earned applause soou after in making a well-executed break of 73, taking the lead for the first time. Two visits' later Carrick made a fine ton of the table break of GO. A run of 31 was his next effort. Whitford. however, ran up to 38 before' failing over a. two-cushion cannon. \ similar break by ibis player made the scores 207 to 202 in Carrick s favour. The third 38 break in succession was made this time by Carrick, who reached the' 300 mark with a small margin in his favour. Carrick kept forcing the game and a further run- of 42 gained him a useful lead at 380 to 280. The next sequence by Carrick was one of 68 and, in spite of Whitford s good unhill game Carrick won comfortably Ixv »9 points. L. F. W. Holdsworth, the .New, Zealand amateur champion, will play M. P.
