MAORI FOR SENTENCE
OFFENCE AT MANGERE Charged with breaking into tho dwelling of a Chinese, Wai Wong, in Muir Boad, Mangere, on July 30, and stealing a sum of money, a young Maori, Wairoa Marsh, pleaded guilty in the Onehunga Police Court yestordaj* before Messrs. J. E. Green and ,T. H. Geraghty, J.P.'s. It was stated in evidence that George Wah Lee and George Hong were visiting Wai Wong's house and in tho afternoon went to tho beach to bathe, leaving their clothing in Wong's bedroom. The house was then unoccupied and one door was unlocked. On their return, Wah Leo discovered that the pockets of his trousers had been rifled of a wallet containing £l7 in notes. Constable S. Z. Olver said that when he interviewed accused the following day the latter denied all knowledge of the theft. Subsequently he took witness into a shed where he lived and showed him the missing wallet. It contained £9 of the money. Ho finally signed a statement admitting his guilt. Accused was committed to tho Supreme Court for sentence.
