EXPRESS DELAYED
FAULT IN ENGINE REPLACED AT PAPAKURA A mechanical faxilt which developed in the engine at Papakura caused a delay of about 35 minutes to the afternoon express from Auckland to Wellington yesterday. Some of the lost time was picked up before the train arrived at Frankton, and it was thought that it would arrive at Wellington on time. When the fault developed, it was decided to put the engine into a siding at Papakura. It was replaced by the engine from a south-bound goods train, and another engine was sent from Auckland to take the goods train on to its destination. By this means, the delay was reduced to a minimum.
