YAWL MISSING

PUT OUT OF GISBORNE OWNER ABOARD ALONE MAN SEEN WALKING ON ISLAND [BY TELEGRAPH OWN CORESPONDENT] GISBORNE, Monday Fears are entertained in Gisborne for the safety of the 3oft. auxiliary yawl Titi and her owner, Mr. Gordon Morice, who put out of Gisborne Harbour early yesterday morning on a week-end cruise. Mr. Morice is known to have made several trips as far down the coast as Waikokopu, and no anxiety was felt at his absence until this morn-

As a result of a report from the Port Dunedin, anchored in the roadstead, that a light had been sighted off Tuahine Point last night, the Harbour Board's launch Takitimu made an investigation of the north-eastern end of the bay to-day. Owing to heavy weather it was not possible to get close in behind Tuamotu Island, where it 'was thought the boat might have been beached.

A man was seen to walk to the top of the island. It was thought this might be the missing man. No trace was found by the Takitimu of any disabled craft, but it has been suggested that the Titi might have been blown well up the coast by the prevailing southerly storm.
