Monriiiy Cream received at the Jvaitaia Dairy Company's factory during the 1938-39 season ended June 30 showed a much higher standard than that supplied during the previous season. The cream grading percentages for last year with the previous season's in parentheses were:—Finest, 74.30 per cent. (61.42); first, 23.22 (34.39); second, 2.39 (4.19). Of the butter output 95.43 per cent was graded finest, as against 90.43 per cent the year before. 'J.he annual meeting of suppliers is to be held on August 11 and the directors' report to be presented at this meeting deals as follows with the season's activities.

"Ihe output for the season was 1952.1723 tons, n decrease of 173 tons /cwt., or 8.1 G per cent, compared with the previous season. The reduction in output resulted from adverse and changeable climatic conditions throughout the year, coupled with a reduction in the number of supplying members from 637 to 630."

The report for the previous season indicated an estimated season average per lb. butterfat over all grades of 14.780 d, whereas the actual season average pay-out made was 14.739 d per lb. butterfat, plus dividend on share capital at 3 per cent per annum, and representing an additional pay-out of .041 d per lb. butterfat.

The balance available for distribution as shown by the appropriation account is £27,755 8s lOd, which the directors propose be allocated as follows :-rFinal payment butter-fat at l.Sld per lb., £27,048 8s Id; dividend at 3 per cent per annum on nonqualifying supply shares, £200; transfer trading 'reserve, £150; taxation and carried forward, £357 0s 9d. The average butter-fat pay-out over all grades for the season will therefore be -as follows Advance payment, 14.319 d; final payment, 1.810 d; total, 16.129 d; add dividend of 0.13 d, total, 16.142 d,

The total charges up to f.o.b, at per lb. butterlat were 2.204 d, compared with 2.113 d last season.

Sales of fertiliser and lime for the year amounted to £19,448 Is 6d, oil which commissions amounting to £842 8s 9d were earned. This amount has been carried forward as a credit ir« tho' fertiliser account. The credit balance in this account now stands at £2831 16s 6d.

The trading department returned a net profit of £197 12s 4d after the payment of rebates to members at the rate of 5 per cent sales and amounting to £9lO Os 9d. ;//

CAMBRIDGE, Monday "The pay-out of 18.577 d can be considered highly satisfactory," said the chairman of the Bruntwood Dairy Company, Mr. W.. X. Perry, at the annual meeting of suppliers held in Cambridge. "This amount is above the 2d differential between butter and cheese, and is mainly due to the excellent yield that Has been secured. Th«» pay-out last year was 16.333 d." Mr. Perry said the large amount of finest grade cheese manufactured had resulted in premiums totalling £635, which represented about id per lb. butter-fat. This showed the desirability of manufacturing only the highest quality of cheese.
