SOCIAL EVENING UNUSUAL ENTERTAINMENT MANY MEMBERS ATTEND "A Butterfly Night" was the title of the entertainment arranged by Mr. and Mrs. Nigel White and Mr. and Mrs. John Manning at the social evenevening held by the Athenian Club on Saturday night. There was an unusually largo attendance of members and their friends. The hall had been attractively decorated in an orange and black colour scheme typical of the colouring of the Monarch butterfly. The stage was arranged as a garden scene with a great many imitation butterflies showing in the foliage, their varied shadings being realistically reproduced with concealed lighting effects. The opening number on the programme was a specialty solo costume dance by Miss Mardi Brooks, whoso entrance was made from a cleverly constructed cocoon. Other numbers were a burlesque ballet presented by the "Athenian Honeys," comprising a number of male Athenians grotesquely attired to represent butterflies; solos by Miss .lean McGregor, Miss Sybil Phillips, Mr. Tony Bex; elocution by Miss Anita Webster; instrumental items by Mr. Boy Maxwell, trios by the Carina Trio. The accompanists were Miss Dorothy Franchi, Miss Elva Carr, Mr. Eric Maxwell and Mr. A. Boyce. Among those present were:—Mrs. C. E. Anderson, Mrs. Errol Brindley, Mrs. L. Dyson, Mrs. P.
