Mrs. M. M. Price, of Christchurch, arrived last week to spend a short holiday here. Mrs. Douglas Adkins, of Rothesay Street, Remuera, is spending a holiday at Springside, Helensville. Miss Mary Upton, of Orakei Road, Remuera, is staying at Tirau as tho guest of Mrs. Douglas Mitchell. Mrs. John Peach, of Paeroa, returned oii Thursday by the Tasman from Saigon and tho Dutch East Indies. Mrs. J. Hill, of Wellington, Mrs. B. Johnstone, of Wellington, and Mrs. T. M. Aickin, of Whangamata, are at the Esplanade Hotel. Mrs. L. C. Rath bone, of Victoria Avenue, Remuera, who has been spending a holiday at Dunmoro, Waingaro, has returned home. Mrs. G. H. Anderson, of Park Road, returned to Auckland on Thursday by the Tasman from a trip to Saigon and the Dutch East Indies. Mrs. Mizen lias returned to Great Mercury Island. She was accompanied by Miss June Hope, who intends to spend some months there. Miss Natalie Allan, who has been visiting her aunt, Mrs. Jack Allan, of Shortland Flats, has returned to Mangakahia, North Auckland. Mrs. M. Le Clerc, of Helena Bay, North Auckland, who has been on a six weeks' holiday to the Islands, returned by the Matua on Thursday. Mrs. E. V. Ralls, of Towai, will leave by the Niagara on July 25 for Sydney to visit her son, Mr. L. E. Ralls, and family. Sho will spend some weeks in Australia. An enjoyable function organised by the mothers committee of the Onewa Free Kindergarten was held at the residence of Mrs. J. Leonard, Queen Street, Northcoto. Miss Dawn Hartley, who has been spending a holiday in Auckland with her sister, Mrs. George Winstone, of William Street, Takapuna, has returned to her home in Tauranga. A description of a visit she had paid to Great Britain was given by Mrs. S. H. Hay to members of the Rotorua Travel Club on Friday evening. Mrs. J. Banks presided. The hostesses were Mrs. F. 0. Burtt and Mrs. L. Thompson. A bring and buy afternoon in aid of the funds of the Methodist Ladies' Guild was held last week at Paparoa. During the afternoon musical items were given by Mrs. Skelton, Miss Audrey Ball and Mrs. Cole. The proceeds totalled £lO 12s. Mrs. N. Pearson, of Wellington, who is visiting relatives in Auckland prior to sailing for Sydney by tho Awatea 011 July 31, will leave this morning to spend a few days at Helensville. She will be accompanied by her daughter.. Mrs. H. L. Turnbull, of Mission Bay. The wedding took place in London on July 12, at St. Lawrence, Jewry, of Miss Barbara Stedman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Stedman, of Woodley Avenue, Remuera, to Mr. James I. Pearse, of Bombay, India. After the ceremony a reception was held by Mrs. Algernon Borthwick at her residence, 20 Grosvenor Square,' W.l. Mr. and Mrs. Pearse later left for Scotland.
