BUTTER QUIETER
VALUES MAINTAINED GOOD CONSUMPTION STORED STOCKS INCREASE (Hecei.eil July 10, r>.s p.m.) LONDON, July 10 The butter market is quieter. Dealers are endeavouring to maintain the present- values. Nearly all buyers have accumulated some stocks. Imports, with the exception of Now Zealand, will be heavy during the next few weeks, after which European output is expected to show the usual seasonal decline. Cold storage slocks have increased by 91.000 boxes during tlie last fortnight, and are now about the same as a year f ago. Retailors report that consumption is good, and it should stand the advance in the price to between lid and 15d per pound. The present price of New Zealand butter is 126s per cwt. This is equal to approximately 15.13 d per lb., f.0.b., New Zealand ports, compared with the guaranteed price of 1-1.89 d per lb., f.o.b. Stocks of all butters held in Loudon a week ago were estimated to be 1,102,640 boxes, compared with 1.109.826 boxes at the same time last year. Stored stocks of New Zealand butter total 556-1 tons, compared with 6375 tons a year ago.
