NED CUTTLE SCORES
HOLLOW VICTORY IN HANDICAP
MAJORITY WINS BRILLIANTLY
DEAD-HEAT IN FINAL EVENT [BY TKLF.GRAm —FKOM AHOHEB,] WELLINGTON, Saturday The racing at Trentham to-day was noteworthy for the success of the stable double, Ned Cuttle and Majority, both being trained by R. Johnson at New Plymouth, in the chief flat events, the Winter Oats and the Onslow Handicap. The horses were favourites and Ned Cuttle scored in very easy fashion, running right away from his opponents in the straight. Majority also scored decisively, registering a fine performance in the heavy going under 10.3, clearly demonstrating that he was the best sprinter at the meeting. Hunting Royal and Slayer repeated their second-day victories. Slayer's two wins at the meeting strengthened the idea that he would have been difficult to beat only for falling when in front a mile from home in the Wellington Steeplechase on Tuesday. The easiest victory of the day was achieved by the 10-year-old Curie when he won the Winter Hurdles by 15 lengths from Ellanui. Curie handled the going better than the rest of the field and he was always a winner after taking charge about five furlongs from home. King Rey was in front when he fell after going a mile and the chances are that he otherwise would have been prominent at the finish. King Hey s rider, H. Turner, had a remarkable escape from injury, the horse appearing to roll right over him.
