LEANDER AT SUVA
| 'ANNUAL ISLAND CRUISE ROUND OF ENTERTAINMENTS [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] SUVA, July 3 The light cruiser Leander, which is engaged on her annual Island cruise, arrived at Suva early on Saturday morning. Fine'weather is favouring the officers and crew, and a number of sporting fixtures are being arranged, including hockey, Rugby, Soccer, golf and tennis matches and a swimming carnival. Dances are being given and an excursion for 200 men of the ship's company has been arranged by the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, Limited. This will include a trip by motor launches to the island of Nukulau and then up the Eewa 'River to tlie native town of Nailili, thence to Davuilcvi, from where the men will bo returned in cars to Suva. On *the morning of her arrival the cruiser participated in the manoeuvres then being conducted by the Fiji Defence Force, tlie Navy co-operating by providing an attacking force which landed in ship's boats a few miles out of Suva. The operations proved very interesting, particularly to the native troops, who entered into the spirit t>f the "attack" with enthusiasm. The Leander will continue on her voyage on July 12.
