SEVERE EARTH TREMOR
APIA HOUSES SHAKEN ALARM AMONG PUBLIC [from our own correspondent] APIA, June 22 Residents of Samoa are accustomed to mild earth tremors, but on .Tune 8 one of rather severe dimensions shook them from their usual calm. It started at 9.45 a.m. and continued for almost a minute.
Houses in Apia shook, crockery and pans rattled and from some of the stores customers made a hurried exit. At the observatory the Rossi-Sorel instrument placed the disturbance as being; about 170 miles south-west of Samoa.
