ENORMOUS POPULATION 353 TO THE SQUARE MILE [from our own correspondent] , LONDON, Jane 19 The totals of the German census of May 17, published to-day in all the German newspapers, show that the population of Greater Germany, including Austria and the Sudetenland, is 79,600,000. This estimate, docs not include the Memel territory, where there are about 200,000 people, while the inclusion of the population of Bohemia and Moravia would make a grand total of 86,600,000. The excess of women over men has decreased. There are now only 1050 women to 1000 men .while in 1933 the proportion was 1060 to 1000 and in 1919 1101 to 1000. The population represents in Germany a density of 353 people to the square mile. Britain and Northern Ireland, Italy, Belgium and Holland all have greater densities, the figures being respectively -I6S, 360, 702 and 627 to the square mile.
