BIG-GAME FISHING

TAURANGA CLUB'S YEAR RADIO STATION PROPOSAL [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] TAURANGA, Saturday The report presented at the annual meeting of the Tauranga Big-game Fishing Club showed that the past season provided excellent -sport in tho waters off Mayor Island. Officers were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr. J. Mowlem; president, Mr. A. J. Mirriclees; vice-presidents. Messrs. H. 10. Olding and T. F. Kerridfje; committee, Messrs. L. Norris. A. Fletcher. T. R. Hunt. H. A. Mollgaard, E. Chadban and H. P. Anderson; secretarytreasurer. Mr. B. K. Gifford; auditor, Mr. -T. K. Lusk. The matter of communication between Tauranga and Mayor Island was raised by Mr. Mowlem, who said ho thought the Government should be approached regarding installing a wireless telegraph station on the island. Mr. C. Cross offered to use a quantity of his own' apparatus for the purpose and Mr. Mowlem offered to donate and install a generator at the island. Mr. L. Norris suggested that a small levy on each visitor to the island might help in raising the necessary money. Mr. Mirrilees said the project would be discussed at the first meeting of the committee.
