PATTEESON CUP CONTEST HAMILTON'S SEVENTH WIN AMBLER LEADS ALL THE WAY The annual contest between harriers from the Calliope and Hamilton Clubs for the Patterson Clip, donated by the president of the former club, was hold at Birkenhead on Saturday over a fourmile course, covering cross-country and road. Hamilton recorded its seventh win, compared with three wins by Calliope.

N. Ambler, of Calliope, went into the lead in the early stages, and maintained his lead throughout to win by a good margin, returning the fa-fit time of 19m ols. it. French, late of i'apatoetoe Club, finished second, 'followed closely by K. Trow, Hamilton, who challenged at the finish. A. J. Darroch, of Calliope, who was running second tor the first half of the race, was fourth, followed by B. Short, of Calliope. Crabb. of Hamilton, filled sixth place, followed by J. McGregor. The total points for the teams were:— Hamilton, 314'/,; Calliope, 351%.

NEW RACE RECORD

TECHNICAL OLD BOYS' EVENT

The annual road rare of the Technical Old Boys' Harrier Club was held on Saturday from the Y.M.C.A building, Wellesey Street, to Mission Bay. There were, 25 starters and a feature of the run wsis the new record established h.v the threo scratch men, Harding, Best and Jbbcrtson. ii. Gain was the first man away, and then came Mc.Masters, Bigelow and Carder. At. Parnell Bridge, H. Burt, running well, passed Garth and Parker. The next checking station was Tamnki Bridge, and the order was Gain. Wilson and Knight, who had a 20 yards' break on Stoupo and Elwin, with Johnson further back. Next came the three scratch men, Ibbertson, Best and Harding, 50 yards back. At Orakei Bridge, Gain was 2-5 yards in front of Knight, who was the same distance ahead of Carder and Wilson, followed by Bigelow and Sutcliffe. A little further back, Bradley and Mortimer were going well and gaining ground fast.

The order of finish was:—R. Gain. 1 Carder, 2; Knight, rt; Bradley, I; Wilson, 5 Burt, R; Bigelow. 7; Ibbertson. £.

LYNNDALE CLUB'S TRIALS TEAMS FOR CUP CONTESTS The Lynndale Harrier Club held trials on Saturday for teams to compete in the Technical Club's Onehunga road race. The course was from the Avondale Racecourse, through Green Bay and Blockhouse Bay, and return. A slow pack of 10 members was followed by a medium pack of 12 men, and the remaining I runners were divided into two teams a? probable club representatives for this week's event. The first slow pack men to finish were S. Derbyshire and J. Pearson together, followed by Charsen. R. Carlton, J. Henderson and B. Howells, who finished strongly. Dolan and M. White led the medium pack all the way, with R. Price and S. Halliday in close support, until near the finish. In the Probable A team trial, J. Pcrrett, W. Briggs and A. Brown ran strongly throughout, with J. Howells and E. Taylor in good support. In the second Probable B team. Goldfinch, Kemp. Eley and Young were a fast-finishing quartette. The juniors, C'aliagher and Olsen, ran well in the open company. The Lynndale A team to defend the Wilson Cup has been selected as follows:—R. Crompton (captain), A. Browne, W. Briggs, T. Collins. R. BAPTIST CLUB'S RECORD

FAST RUN BY L. CORNWALL

The principal event of the Baptist Harrier Club's meeting at the Royal Oak Baptist Church on Saturday was the fast pack's run over a 14-mile circuit of the Upper Manukaa Harbour. This was the second annual contest over the course.

The winner, L. Cornwall, ran a splendid race, covering the distance in 7S minutes and lowering by two minutes the record established in the initial race by his clubmate, H. Ferguson. The pack began to break up at the end of Church Street, Cornwall forging ahead along the Great South Road, and gradually increasing his lead from H. Ferguson, Y. Connell, B. Andrews, C. Rosie, who were teaming well together. Leaving Otahuhu, the winner had established a lead of 200 yards, which he increased to 600 yards at Robertson Road, and three-quarters of a mile by the time he reached the Mangere Bridge. He finished three minutes ahead of the next runners, who were still close together. The intermediate and colts' packs covered shorter courses of nine and seven miles respectively in the Hillsborough district and held quarter-mile runs-in. Detailed results were:—

WESLEY CLUB WINNERS

Members of the Wesley Harrier Club held a run on Saturday over a course from the Northcote Methodist Church, toward Glenfield, on to the Wairau Road to Takapuna, then across some fairly difficult, muddy country till the road was picked up again. and from College Road the track followed the shore past the Northcote football ground, back to the starting point. In the slow pack MacLachlan and Lakin showed up fairly well, while Bookings antl Grahame, of the intermediate pack, appeared to be in (rood form. Results of the run were:—

PRESBYTERIAN CLUB'S CONTEST

The Presbyterian Harrier Club's race on Satnrdav from the Point Chevalier Presbyterian Church to Otitori Bay, Titirangi, was contested by over 30 runners. The limit men were sent away a quarter or an hour before the scratch marker, J. T. B. Neil. In the last mile, however, the field was not nearlv so strung out, and Neil finished 1-1 tli. with the fastest time of 3Sm 10s. S«cond fastest time was registered by S.
