SCOTTISH WOMEN
A DICKENS EVENING
CHARACTERS PORTRAYED SCENES AND SKETCHES GIVEN Members and visitors of the Young Women's Christian Association Scottish Women's Club spout a delightful evening this week, when a pageant entitled "The Women of Charles Dickens," written and produced by Mrs. Helen Griffiths, was presented before a large audience. The hall was beautifully decorated with scarlet flowers and autumn leaves, and novel lighting effects were introduced. The costumes were.quaint and colourful. The following characters wore represented: —Sarah Gamp (Mrs. LI. Gumming), Betsy Prig (Miss MePhorson), Mrs. Xickleby (Mr*. Sullivan), Kate Xickleby (Miss Ban ), Miss Havisha in (Miss Wills), Dora (Mrs. Bayliss), Bella Wilier (Mrs. Appleby), Betsy Trotwood (Mrs. Kirk), Mrs. Micawber (Mrs. Frasor), Mrs. Cornov (Mrs. White), liiith Pinch (Miss Muir), .Miss Monllathers (Mrs. T. JL Young), Mrs. Criipp (Mrs. .lack), Mrs. Pardiggle (.Mrs. Baimatvne), Fanny Squeors (Mrs. ('rosslov), and Dolly Y anion (-M iss Barbour). Mrs. Gritiths gave a short address on the great novelist, and a dramatic scene from David Copporfiold was rend- < red bv Miss Flo Sinclair and Miss Belle Heid. Delightful character songs and sketches wore given by Mrs. W diis and Mr Frasor. The accompaniments and incidental music were played by Madame Dunn and Mrs. F. llawke.
