ENGINEDRIVERS' PAY
NEW AWARD ISSUED RATES THROUGHOUT DOMINION Rates of pay for engine drivers, river engineers, marine engine drivers, greasers. firemen and assistants throughout New Zealand were fixed in an award issued by the Arbitration Court yesterday. In a 'memorandum attached to the award, which is signed by both Mr. Justice Callan and Mr. Justice O'Regan, it was stated that wages were the only questions referred to the Court. The scale of wages is as follows: Traction engine drivers and steam roller drivers. X'o 6s 6d a week; winch drivers, I'l 16s fid; certificated winding engine drivers, -L'o Gs 6d; men substantially employed in charge of an electric motor over oO horse power and men substantially employed in charge of an internal combustion engine over '2O horse power. £'o Is Gd; steaniing-up time, outside ordinary hours, 2s extra a day. Payment may be made weekly or fortnightly as arranged between the parties.
