OBITUARY
MR. EDWIN FOSTER [FROM OUR OWX CORRfc.SPOXDENT] lIUXTLY. Friday Tho death has occurred at Ohinewai of one of the district's earliest pioneers, Mr. Edwin Foster, aged 79. Mr. Foster was born at Nottingham, England, and arrived in New Zealand with his parents in the ship Mntonka on January 4, 1865. He married Miss Alice Bregman, of Hangiriri, nt Hangiriri. In his_ younger days he was a surveyor, his work taking him over most of the North Island, especially north of Auckland. Some years later he'went in for fanning, first on what is known as Foster's Island, Ohinewai, and later at Ohinewai until his retirement about eight years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Foster celebrated their golden wedding on February 2.">. Mr. Foster had resided at Ohinewai for about oO years and up to a few months ago, when he retired, had been chairman of the Ohinewai School Committee for 47 years. Mr. Foster is survived by his wife, five sons and one daughter.
