PUTARURU WATER
COUNCIL FIXES RATES ESTIMATED COST OF £llOO [from OUR OWN correspondent] PUTARURU, Friday A comprehensive report on alternative scales of charges which could be levied to meet annual costs of tho Putaruru water supply scheme was presented to the Putaruru Town Board at its June meeting. The report was compiled by a special water supply committee.
The board decided to adopt the committee's recommendation to levy a flat annual domestic rate of £4 10s; a flat rate for business premises of £2; a charge of Is per thousand gallons to industrial consumers and a flat rate of Is 6d per acre on all farm land within the town district. It also recommended that a water rate of Id in the £ on dwellings and id in the £ on business premises and ijon-consumers bo levied. On an estimated daily draw-off of 50,000 gallons, the committee considered that annual charges, including operating costs, interest and sinking fund charges on the £IO,OOO loan would bo £llOO.
"Ratepayers may rest assured that provided a sufficient number come into the scheme., tho cost will be 110 more than that indicated and may well bo less," stated tho report,
