RESULTS ON SATURDAY REPRESENTATIVE FIXTURE WHANGAREI TEAM SUCCESSFUL J?ugby football competitions were continued in country centres of the Auckland Province on Saturday afternoon. A representative match at "\Vhangarei between tho homo tea.ni and Northern Wairoa resulted in a win for the former by 13 points to 9. The following results of matches were forwarded by correspondents of the Hkuai.D: — Whangaroi.—Tho first representative Rugby match of tho season in North Auckland was played between Whangarei and Northern Wairoa at Whangarei. A' fast game ended in Wliangaroi's favour, tho score being 13 to 0. The first scoro camo when from a scrum on Wairoa's quarter line tho ball went from Codling to Abbott, R. White and Cunningham who scored. From another scrum near tho lire Callanan dribbled through to beat the opposition for tho touch down. R. White converted. Wairoa attacked from tho kick-off in the second spell and Simons, Newlove and Matich were prominent, the latter scoring. Tho next try went to Whangarei, tho bail being handled in turn by Codling, Abbott, It. White, Cunningham, Abbott again, the lastnamed scoring. R. White converted. To Rore brought Northern Wairoa's score to six when from a scramble ovor the line ho touched down. The final score camo when Matich kicked a penalty goal. United made good use of the sun and breeze in the first half, and its forwards kept up a series of loose rushes from which D. Morris and Menzics scored tries. Early in the second half L, Muir, the Old Boys' second five-eighths, cut through to scoro after a run of about 30yds. A. J. Aitken converted. With about five minutes to go Aitken had a drop-kick from 40yds out and a goal was awarded by the refereo, but this decision met with a mixed reception from tho onlookers, who considered the ball had not gone over tho bar. The game was evently contested, but over-eagerness spoiled most movements. In a ragged game at To Awamutu, City beat Rovers by 12 to ,5. Taupiri suffered its first defeat of tho season when it was beaten by Technical Old Boys by 17 points to 0. In a closely-contested game at Cambridge, To Awamutu was successful against Hautapu by S to 3, while Raglan had a fairly comfortable win against United by 10 to 8. Matamata.—Two games were played at Bedford Park in continuation of the Matamata Rugby Union's senior competition, Patotere defeated Wairere S —o and Matamata defeating Wardville B—o. The game between Wairere and Patotere was closely contested throughout, the former team leading o—30 —3 at half-time. In the second spell Patetere showed better condition and scored a converted try. while the opposition was unable to add its total. For the winner J. Fisher scored and converted and D. Bell kicked a penaltygoal. Garland scored a try for Wairere, and J. Wilson kicked a penalty goal. The game between Matamata nd Wardville was also keenly contested throughout, Matamata showing the better finish. G. Childs and W. Kneebone scored tries, J. Cole converting one. J. Ralph, at fullback for Matamata. was responsible for a safe exhibition, and J. Cole also played very well, especially on defence. Pettigrew and Hughes were prominent for Wardville.

Thames.—Tho final games in the second round of the Thames Rugby Union's senior competition were played. Physical Training defeated Hui Mai and is now top of tho ladder. It will be matched against the visiting Maungakaramea club team from Whangarei next Saturday. Senior results were: Physical Training, 9 (tries by E. Dovcli (2) and Fitzpatrirk). Hui Mai, 0 (tries by Phillips and Williams); College Old Boys. 10 (tries by Storey, McLeach, Hamilton and McMahon, conversions by Schoficld and Porath), beat Ramblers, S (try by Price, converted by Courtney, who also kicked a penalty goal). Waihi.—Good football was witnessed at Rugby Park whon the socond rounds of tho club competitions were commenced. Katikati, 0, drew with Convent Old Boys, 0. This proved a hard game, neither team crossing the line. For Katikati I. Johnson kicked two penalty goals, and N. Pratt kicked two for Convent. High School Old Boys proved too good for Mataura, winning by 11 to 10 in one of the best games seen on the park this season. For the winning team Comthwaite and Jnrvis scored tries and J. Taupiri.—By playing fast, open football. Technical Old Boys defoated Taupiri by 17 points to 0. Although considerably lighter m the forwards, the visitors, by feeding their backs on every occasion, wore.able to scoro four tries, ,'l'he homo forwards, led by Taylor and Catle.v, made a determined effort to stave off defeat, but met with stern tackling. In an even pack, Stanich, Jordan and Anderson were always prominent for Technical, while Goosman. who scored two tries. P. Tetzlaff and Whyte were always dangerous when in possession. Tapp, Taylor and Robertson were tho pick of the home backs, Whatu proving very weak at handling. In a curtain-raiser Orini juniors defeated Kainui by 12 poipts to 0.

Tauranga.—The Tauranga Rugby Union's weekly competitions were continued in ideal weather. In the senior grade To Puna defeated Matakana by 15 to 3. The winning team was lighter in the forwards, but its backs possessed good combination, and this advantage earned victory.
