LAKE TAUPO LEVEL LOW
STILL MORE RAIN NEEDED [by telegram—OWN correspondent] TAUPO, Sunday A light, steady rain which set in on Wednesday and continued, with occasional heavy showers, for three days, is tho first rain of anv consequenoe for about fivo weeks. The rivers and the lake are at a low level, the lake being -within 3in. of the lowest level known, and approximately 2ft. 3in. below what is considered tho normal level. It will take a great deal more rain to show any appreciable rise, as the surrounding country is very dry.
