PIRATE SHIP CARNIVAL
Attractive surroundings and ideal conditions for dancing made the Pirate Ship Cabaret, at Alii ford a popular meeting place for a large throng of dancers on Saturday night, when the weekly carnival dance was held. The programme, which consisted mainly of oldtime dances, also included the Lambeth Walk, the Palais (Hide, and some modern swing numbers, and was received with much appreciation. Musical items* by the cabaret orchestra of six instruments were greeted with warm applause and proved to be one of the most popular features of the evening. Special transport arrangements enabled many city visitors to be present.
