Tho course was in good order. There was a large attendance and the totalisator handled £19,065 10s, against £14,009 10s last year, when tho meeting was held at Foxton, an increase of £4960. TAKANINI DOINGS SOME SMART GALLOPS MARIE'S ACRE 'GOES FREELY - SOLID FIVE WITH BRAZILIAN The outside grass provided excellent going at Takanini 011 Saturday. Valamito (Collett) ran the last six of seven furlongs in 1.18 2-5. Valamito did not appear to work as well as usual, but may have gone better in company. Vaalso (Smith) got tho better of the start in his gallop with Tahiti (Clark), and maintained his advantage to the end of five furlongs in 1.4 3-5. Tepoto (Parsons) apd Inver (Coleman) were associated over six furlongs in 1.16, a useful effort on the part of both. The honours vvere with Tepoto. Hound Up (Smith) and Anion (lngl is) ran an easy seven furlongs in 1.41, both showing a desire to increase the pace. Tho Koxbridge-—Flying Juliet filly (Kingi) and the Vaals —Sea Song filly (Michel) were impressive in a sprint over a couple of furlongs, both hitting out well.. Pleuron (Beguely) and Milanion (Parkinson) were associated over six furlongs in 1.17 3-5, tho former hying a slight advantage throughout. Jack Tar (Parsons) was sent seven furlongs and finished strongly to record 1.33. Tip Toes Improving Tip Toes (Coleman) covered the last six of sefen furlongs 111 1.19. Mia Acrea (Smith) was a length in front of Silver Glow (Parkinson) at tho conclusion of six furlongs in 1.19. Mia Acrea, who has been working well, is to compete in the Carbine Plate at Ellerslie. Mario's Acre tPartle) and Brazilian (Beguely) ran five furlongs in 1.4 3-5 and they appeared as if they could have done a good deal better, particularly Mario's Acre, who has rarely looked better. Buccaneer (Green) and Miss Valerie (Spinley) ran three furlongs down the back in 37a. Noisy Night (Smith) was under a good hold throughout six furlongs in 1.21. One of the best gallops of tho morning was credited to Bronwen (Green), who got to the end of five furlongs in 1.2 1-5 —a smart effort. She was assisted over the last couple of furlongs by Nordic Song (Hatwell). . • An excellent effort, over seven furlongs was credited to High Sea (Beguoly) and Philcourt (Bartle), who ran 1.30. They went f;ist early and High Sea was half a length in front at the finish. Philcourt is displaying much more dash than formerly." Veritable (Long) was going comfortably while running half, a mile in 535. Mintval Shows Speed Ivy Willonyx (Long) was better than Dutch Girl (Quedley) over six furlongs in 1.19 2-os, Mintval (Hatwell) . recorded 38s for three furlongs, his best, effort to date. Bachelor King (Kingi) and Vaalsstaar (Bartle) were responsible for_ a smartly-run "three furlongs in 37 2-ss. They went very pleasingly. « The Australian jockey A. Stanton, who is expected to be attached to A. Tinker's stable 011 his nrrival from Australia, is reported to have left Sydney last Friday.
