Noblemen Fined for Motoring Offences

The Queen's nephew, the Hon. John Patrick Bowes-Lyon, of Shovelstrodo Manor, East Grinstead, Sussex, was fined 40s at Bow Street police court recently for motor-car obstruction in Wardour Street. , A police'constable said the car, which was left from 8.15 to 11 p.m., reduced traffic to a single line when cars were setting down at "a theatre. He pointed oiit the obstruction and Mr. Bowes-Lyon said: "It was verv quiet when I. left it." Francis Neville Chamberlain, the 28-year-old son of the British Prime Minister, was fined 20s at Solihull, near Birmingham, for speeding. He was alleged to have travelled between 37 and 40 miles per hour in a built-up. area> . -i Defending counsel said: 1 am instructed that lie wns under the impression that this was a de-restricted area. Having regard to who he is and regard to the activities of the gentleman over the water during the weekend, he may have been hurrying to hear what his father had to say."
